Volunteers wanted for the tax assistance program | Local news

The AARP Foundation’s Tax Aide program is looking to expand its team of volunteers for the upcoming tax season.

Tax-Aide provides free tax filing assistance for those who need it most, especially those over 50 who cannot afford tax preparation services.

In 2018, Racine and Kenosha counties had 50 volunteer tax advisors helping more than 2,700 people file their tax returns at the federal and state levels.

The program seeks volunteer tax advisors, client attendants, those who can provide technical and management support, and interpreters. Some prior knowledge of tax preparation as well as computer skills are helpful. Volunteers complete tax preparation training and IRS certification.

In its draft income tax return 1040 for 2021, the US Internal Revenue Service (IRS) made it clearer how crypto assets should be taxed than in 2020. The hosts of “The Hash” are discussing the potential impact of the IRS’s efforts to address crypto Tax evasion. “More security and / or ease of use when it comes to crypto taxation … will certainly make the crypto payment use case and possibly the investment use case even easier,” said host Zack Seward.
