The celebrities clapped and celebrated The Chase host Bradley Walsh told them, “All I can say is, well done. Guess what you weren’t caught, you passed the Chaser. ‘

Shaun, admitting defeat, added, “Fantastic performance, well done.”

The stars played for four charities – Children’s Trust, Cancer Research UK, Acting for Others, Cancer Fund for Children. Their prize fund means that each charity will receive £ 50,000.

Some home viewers were thrilled to see such a big win, with, writing on Twitter: “An incredible performance on #TheChase by @Jennifalconer and a team taking home £ 200,000 for their chosen charities.”

Another wrote: “Wow Patrick Kielty took a big risk taking the £ 179,000 on #TheChase and it paid off for the team to make £ 200,000. I like people who can take risks.

Meanwhile, others were less impressed with the stage, with a handful saying the show was “fixed” and “so rigged”.

“What a #thechase solution but a good cause,” said one Twitter user.

A second tweeted: “Another fixed celebrity pursuit.”
