SR 51 traffic accident involves a rollover that starts a fire

A traffic accident in Sacramento along the Elvas Freeway on September 3 injured at least one person. The accident involved two or three vehicles around 4:48 p.m., including a Honda Civic and a Ford Fusion. It occurred along southbound SR 51 at the Exposition Boulevard off-ramp, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

A driver allegedly drove at high speed

One of the drivers entered and exited the lanes at high speed, which may have contributed to the collision. A rollover occurred in one of the vehicles which reportedly caused extensive roof damage. The vehicle ended up on its right side, but everyone inside was able to get out.

At least one reported injury in a road accident

The car was quickly engulfed in flames, which ignited the grass. Police closed the Exposition Boulevard exit ramp due to the crash. At least one person was transported to Sutter Roseville Medical Center for a complaint of neck pain.

Cause of accident under investigation

By 5:32 p.m., all freeway lanes had reopened, however, the ramp remained closed while the scene was cleared. An investigation is underway by the CHP to determine which driver caused the traffic accident and assign fault.

Determine the cause of a traffic accident

When a person has been injured in a traffic accident, they can consider filing a claim to recover compensation if another motorist or entity was at fault. A personal injury attorney can help by investigating a collision to determine the cause, developing a strong case to support the client’s claim to recover damages, and calculating their losses. Our accident lawyers have been successful on many occasions in handling these types of cases, which is an important factor when seeking help.

The dangers of rollovers

Bearings are among the most dangerous types of accidents. People inside the vehicle are not only subject to more serious injuries, but can also be ejected, which is often fatal. Also, since airbags deflate and seat belts may not be strong enough to hold, passengers may strike metal parts of the vehicle or be injured by flying glass. Rollovers often cause traumatic injuries.

The crushing of the roof during a rollover increases the danger

Automakers are required to build their vehicles to keep the roofs intact, which means they must support 3.5 times the weight of the vehicle. However, not all manufacturers meet this standard. Because roof crush reduces the survival space available inside a vehicle, it can increase the risk of death. Serious consequences are also more likely to occur, such as traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, abdominal trauma, bone fractures and amputations. It is essential to keep the vehicle after a traffic accident so that it can be examined for a roof crush so that an automotive product liability claim can be filed against the manufacturer and others.
