Keep talking talkSPORT yesterday Stewart said, “I have to tell you, with all the trouble going on up there, whether the shoe was on the other foot and that was Rangers, and Celtic I would be ashamed to make such a fuss.

“I want Celtic Rangers to give up the league when they have eight games to go and they’re 13 points ahead.”

“I think that’s such bad athleticism, it’s terrible. I really mean it.

“It stinks, it really does. It’s just the old thing, let’s put the story somewhere else and take it away from nine in a row. It’s childish in my opinion.”

Ibrox Icon McCoist, however, had none of it.

At the request of co-hosts Laura Woods and Andrew ‘Freddie’ Flintoff to comment, he described the comments as “total nonsense”.

He said, “This is Rod’s nonsense, absolute nonsense.

“You can’t give anything to anyone, you have to earn it, you have to win it.

“To be honest, I don’t see where Rod comes from when it comes to Rangers ‘causing all the trouble’.

DISAPPEARED The Rangers reach a five-year kit deal with Castore worth up to £ 20 million after the Sports Direct dispute ends.

“In fact, Rangers and Celtic agreed in their views that they both want to end the season wherever possible.

“So I don’t get it. Rangers clearly want this to happen and I’m telling you now, Celtic too.

“Because when you’re in Celtic’s shoes, you have such an advantage even though you haven’t won it.

“When you’re in Celtics shoes, you still want the opportunity to win the league and that’s all Rangers want.
“Rangers didn’t criticize Celtic or any other team, they criticized the SPFL and the way they voted. And they are 100% right to criticize it.”

“You can’t give people titles, titles have to be earned and won.”

Old Firm celebrity ensured co-host Flintoff had some fun at the couple’s expense.

He said, “Tell yourself what, Ally McCoist and Rod Stewart in a row, Maggie May.”

When one player suggested that the couple settle their differences by sinking, the karaoke-loving McCoist joked, “To be fair, if I took this man I would be completely out of my league.”
