Early Prevention Saves Lives is the theme of the 2022 week of activities organized by Pink Ribbon Charity Montserrat to commemorate Breast Cancer Month.

Activities are scheduled to start on October 1, 2022 and continue until October 8.

Charity chair Sonia Charles said support for this year’s week was already pouring in and more opportunities for women to get breast health checks had been added.

The charity raises money for its mammography fund each year. Thanks to this fund, more than 300 women have received life-saving tests in Antigua. Pink Ribbon covers the cost of mammography for women in need.

“All the data shows that when breast cancer is identified early, more women can fight it. The longer a woman waits to be tested and possibly get treatment, the harder the road to recovery,” said Charles, a clinical ultrasound specialist.

The week of activities is as follows:

  • Saturday, October 1 – Fundraising BBQ Dinner at Olveston House – 7:00 p.m. (Tickets on sale to members.)

  • Sunday, October 2 – Worship with members of Faith Tabernacle Pentecostal Church, Brades – 9 p.m.
