Mother is grateful for the help of the local organization in difficult times

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KERO) – November 18, the third annual 23ABC Community Baby Shower will be held, presented by Hall Ambulance. We invite you to help two nonprofits that are dedicated to helping parents and children here in the community.

Before finding the mission in Kern County, Courtney Mairel was desperate for a job, but she says the organization stepped in, raised her hope, and enabled her to find a purpose again.

“I lived in a hotel with nowhere to go, so I googled a children’s shelter and a mother and the mission came up,” Mairel said.

Courtney said she never expected the mission to change her life.

“I just wanted a place to stay, but when I got here it changed my life and I found my future. Single mothers can be vulnerable and kind of ashamed to ask for help, so the mission gives you a step like this.I don’t have that much family, you know, they all have their own lives and children so it’s like me am here, the mission is my family, you see it really well in the community, “said Mairel.

Mairel said she was grateful for the resources the organization is providing to her and her daughter.

“They provided winter clothes and socks and summer clothes, just that good stuff. I am simply grateful to the mission and the people in the ward for looking after us mothers and the people in the mission, ”said Mairel.

Thursday is the third annual Bakersfield Baby Shower. Bring your donations to 23ABC Studios at 321 21st Street on November 18th from 4:30 am to 7:30 pm.
