MALVERN Hills District Council worker Nicky Stevens will embark on a five-day 100km trek up the Pembrokeshire coast to raise money for national breast cancer charity CoppaFeel.

Nicky will undertake the task between June 11 and 17 to benefit the charity, which is the first in the UK to reach out to young people only.

The journey will be guided by podcaster, author and I’m a Celebrity winner Giovanna Fletcher.

She was one of 100 women selected to join CoppaFeel’s mission from over 1,000 applicants.

In order to complete the challenge, Nicky must raise £2,250 for CoppaFeel.

Nicky, who is a community development worker at the district council, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2017, which led to a year of chemotherapy and hospital visits.

She said her experience with cancer gave her a new perspective on life.

“After my whole life was turned upside down, I knew I had to come out stronger for myself and for my daughters.

“It has been five years since my cancer journey and I want to recognize that and raise money for a very special charity for me.

“It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity and I’m really looking forward to trekking with an amazing team of women.”

Malvern Hills District Council housing and health portfolio holder Councilor Natalie McVey added: ‘We are all very proud of Nicky and all she has achieved in her journey so far. .

“We know she’s going to have an incredible experience on the trek for such a worthy cause, and we wish her the best of luck.”
