The team working at three eye health clinics and surgical centers in Lincolnshire are preparing to sweat it out with TV’s Mr Motivator to raise money for seven brain tumor charities across the UK.

Staff, from Newmedica services in Grimsby, Brigg and Lincoln, have spent the past month preparing for their ten-day training challenge which begins today (Wednesday March 30).

Mr Motivator aka Derrick Evans MBE kicked off the challenge with a special live intro.

Now it’s the team’s turn to keep up the energy to raise as much money as possible for Brain Tumor Research and six of its member charities.

All funds raised will be used to support vital services for those affected by a brain tumor and for essential research to find a cure.

According to Brain Tumor Research, brain tumors kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer, and only 12.5% of people diagnosed with a brain tumor survive beyond five years, compared to a average of 50% for all cancers.

Brain Tumor Research funds sustainable research at dedicated centers in the UK. He also campaigns for the government and major cancer charities to invest more in brain tumor research to speed up new treatments for patients and ultimately find a cure.

Alice Brumby, Ophthalmology Assistant at Newmedica Lincolnshire and a member of the team taking part in the challenge, said: “We are all very happy to be running the challenge and raising money for such a good cause at the same time.

“There will be a new training session every day so we certainly won’t get bored, and there will be plenty of levels so we can improve our fitness and support the association at our own pace.”
