LCAC opts again for the gift card program instead of the Thanksgiving meal distribution: A Place in the Sun

LAKEWOOD, Ohio – Thanksgiving is just a week away Lakewood Charitable Assistance Corp. is in the final stages of the annual Thanksgiving meal distribution.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, LCAC will not gather with its volunteers to sort, package, and deliver meals to hundreds of families in need in the Lakewood area. Instead, LCAC is resuming its gift basket distribution program. Organization officials said they missed working with the volunteers, but said they agreed that the gift card program was a better option again. There are ongoing concerns about possible shortages in stores and safety concerns for the volunteers and the food recipients.

“Thank you for your support, and we hope our upcoming events can take place in person so we can serve 300 families in Lakewood. Keep an eye on our side as we continue to work to help families over the holidays, ”the LCAC board said in a statement.

LCAC is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for disadvantaged Lakewood residents. The group has traditionally been collecting groceries, fundraising, and volunteering to support their annual Thanksgiving and Christmas lunch basket events.

The initiatives have widespread support from the community, including both public and private schools, churches, the Help to Others youth program, and other community groups.
