HIRAM — Our dear sister and aunt, Helen R. Green, 66, passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

She was born on October 1, 1956, in Warren, to parents Helen M. Earms Green and Robert J. Green, the youngest of four children.

She was a 1974 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School, where she was involved in a Spanish club and flautist in the band. She received her bachelor’s degree in special education from Kent State University in 1978. She later earned an additional associate’s degree from Cleveland State University in garden design.

Helen worked for the federal government in the Department of Social Security, working with and helping people with disabilities. At the same time, she followed her lifelong love of nature and the outdoors through volunteer work at the Holden Arboretum and other programs. Helen eventually developed and started her own garden design business. Helen’s specialty was in perennials and native plants. She had many private and commercial clients and took particular pride in her work and the design of the grounds of Blessed Sacrament Church in Warren, where she also maintained the grounds for several years. His motto was to listen to the needs and desires of his clients and to design spaces where people could find peace, joy and beauty in God’s creation. “In these troubled times, let nature comfort you.”

Having a nasty and lively sense of humor, Helen was also one to encourage people to find joy in the simple things in life, to always give a word of encouragement and to step in and give a nudge. hand without expecting accolades or favors in coming back. “I have lived a long and full life!” Seize what you have received and savor every moment. Helen’s fighting and independent spirit has been an example and a driving force in her life, and for so many others.
