The Harrah’s Cherokee Center – Asheville (HCCA) 2021-2022 Community Give Back Program is currently accepting applications from qualified volunteer groups and non-profit organizations to participate in the following event programs:

  • Volunteer Concession Program

Community Give Back program overview

This program enables the venue to directly support and contact local organizations and groups through three main areas:

  • Volunteer Concession Program: A Program to improve the facility’s ability to serve the public in attendance more efficiently by using local volunteer groups to complement paid temporary / seasonal staff.
  • Cleanup for volunteer venues: A program to improve the efficiency of post-event restoration, clean-up, and recycling / composting strategies by using local volunteer groups to complement the venues’ paid operating staff.
  • HCCA fan club & non-profit groups: A direct fan engagement program that gives fans exclusive access to pre-sale codes, ticket events and selected venue experiences, as well as supporting non-profit organizations in the region via a subscription platform.

Volunteer groups are recruited every two years unless deemed necessary when groups are removed or leave the program. The recruitment takes place as an “open call” format, ie all interested groups; including groups currently working in the program must apply for any open call. The applications will be checked by the event management from June 16, 2021. The selection is made on the basis of the relevant experience of the groups, reference tests and interviews with group leaders prior to the conclusion of a contract with a group.

Volunteer Concession Program

This program is designed to improve the facility’s ability to serve the public in attendance by using local volunteer groups to complement paid temporary / seasonal staff. In addition, the program offers local volunteer groups the opportunity to raise funds directly for their respective organization or purpose by earning a percentage of sales sold during their on-site event with a guaranteed minimum per booth per event appearance. Total annual revenue is based on the group’s availability for events, the total number of events at the venue and sales capacity for each booth, as well as any monies received through monetary and / or credit card donations. A full event schedule is subject to change; However, the Food & Beverage venue staff will work closely with management and volunteer groups to ensure an early announcement.

As part of the potential earnings structure, the participating groups will earn at least 10% of net sales of food and soft drinks and 5% of net sales of alcoholic beverages per event at each respective concession stand, in addition to monetary and credit donations. The potential median annual income is in excess of $ 10,000 per volunteer group in the program over a two-year period.

Pickup from the voluntary venue

The Voluntary Venue Collection Program, launched in spring 2021, aims to improve the facility’s waste flow by recruiting local groups to assist our event staff with precise recycling and composting management, bulky waste collection and the restoration of the venue during post-event cleanup support schedule.

In return for these services, local volunteer groups are given a flat fee of $ 700 (arena events) or $ 300 (non-arena events) in exchange for a shift of no more than three hours, made up of a specified number of volunteers working for the The location and size of the event is required. Groups of eight and four people are required to perform active shifts for arena and non-arena events, respectively. A group’s potential annual earnings may vary based on volunteer availability, the frequency of events, and the number of shifts assigned per season; however, the total expected annual net income for the program could add up to $ 25,000 per year. In addition to the service fees paid by the venue, groups can pick up any aluminum cans during their shift to redeem at a local recycling station for additional income.
