GARY NEVILLE praised Luke Shaw as “the best left full-back in the country” after his performance against Manchester City.
The defender scored United’s second goal in their 2-0 win at Etihad and also gave them a clean clean sheet.
And Old Trafford legend Neville claimed that Shaw is the Premier League’s No. 1 left-back at his best.
He told Sky Sports: “He’s been outstanding for United this season.
“A Luke Shaw [that is] fit, a Luke Shaw [that is] physically good, a Luke Shaw [that is] The best left-back in the country is confident in my opinion.
“But combining all these three things at once probably only happened at certain points in your career.
“And that was a problem for him. But this is certainly the best time he’s ever had.
“We’ve seen him drown in a few games over the last week or two like he’s just a little on the sidelines.
“And that would worry me if I were Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
“I just think how you deal with him over the next few weeks is important.”

Shaw, 25, has emerged as a contender for Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the postponed European Championship this summer.
Ben Chilwell, 24, who signed for Chelsea from Leicester for £ 50m last summer, has been a regular left-back in Southgate’s recent games.
But Aston Villa’s Matt Targett (25) is also fighting for a place in the squad after impressing Southgate.
Shaw hasn’t played for England in three years but Neville – a former right-back – believes he is now close to another appeal.
He said, “Gareth Southgate will be watching him carefully and thinking, ‘Well, I know Luke Shaw. I’ve seen him before’.
“He had [almost given up on Luke Shaw before] and you can’t give him up now.
“He stares straight at him and thinks, ‘Well, this is the top performing left-back in the country right now in terms of English left-backs.’
“But he’s fine physically, he’s fine mentally, and he’s injury free so everything is fine with Luke Shaw because he’s an incredible talent.
“A brilliant talent.”
