“Fun and funky fashions, fabulous” – that’s the fundraising promise for Katie Rose Cottage Hospice in Buderim next month.

The organizer is Sandra de Jersey de Caloundra, owner of Professionals on the Coast estate, and she told Noosa Today it will be an afternoon tea at Headlands Golf Club.

“As well as raising money for much-needed projects, it’s also a great way to showcase wonderful new and pre-loved fashion from the hospice’s four op stores in Tewantin, Cooroy, Noosaville and Maroochydore. And, of course, , to spend a nice afternoon with friends and have an excuse to dress up.

Sandra said her co-coordinator was Maxine Robinson, boutique manager Maroochydore Op.

“Maxine organizes the clothes and the models who are all volunteers.

“We’ve worked together on three previous charity shows and when I heard she was now with Katie Rose I decided to support the hospice which cares for the terminally ill across the Sunshine Coast .”

This will be Sandra’s sixth fashion show fundraiser and her ninth charity event.

“I started hosting pink teas at home for all my friends for the Cancer Council and we all dressed in pink and made pink food.

“Then, when I met volunteers from Beautiful You, I had the idea of organizing fashion shows for the public.

“It wasn’t just to raise money, but also for my friends to support their wonderful op shops and raise awareness in the community about these amazing organizations.

“Over the years I have raised funds for the Cancer Council, Beautiful You, the Cindy McKenzie Foundation and now Katie Rose

“Cancer charities are very special to me. My mother, Eileen, was diagnosed with cancer when she was only 37, but she was lucky enough to live until 2006, when she was 69. At that time, she also treated my father who suffered from motor neurone disease. Dad passed away in 1992.

“I have been fortunate to have met many amazing women over the years through Nutrimetics, Body Shop, Onyx Boutique, Veducci Clothing, Steps Employment and Remax where I have worked and they support all of my businesses.

“They give out prizes for raffles and buy tickets to my events. My family and friends also buy tickets every year.

Sandra said Katie Rose’s fashion show dress was pink, pink, pink and hats and fascinators were encouraged.

“There will be lots of raffle prizes and an auction. A guest speaker who has been through the cancer journey will also be present. Oh, and bring fun and a fabulous attitude.

Sunday November 13, from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. State-of-the-art golf club, Buderim. Tickets: $40, includes coffee/tea, afternoon tea and fashion show.
