Dale Harold Edlin | Obituaries


Dale Harold Edlin of Port Washington, WI, formerly of Marshfield, WI, died on Wednesday June 2, 2021 at the age of 88 with his family. He was born on September 11th to Harold and Irene Edlin in Stockholm, WI. 1932. He graduated from Pepin High School in Pepin, WI in 1950. On August 16, 1953, he was married to Janice Anderson. Dale worked on the family’s farm in Stockholm from 1954-1957 until he was drafted into the US Air Force. Teaching aircraft electronics in the Air Force sparked his passion for teaching. After military service, Dale completed a double degree in biology and agriculture at UW River Falls in 1961. After graduation, he taught biology, agriculture, and commercial classes at St. Croix Central High School for six years. There he started a vocational agricultural program and organized an FFA chapter. He then taught agriculture and taught at River Falls High School in River Falls, WI for the next eight years. During his time at River Falls, he was also involved in the university’s agriculture teacher training program. During this time he completed a Master of Science in agricultural education. In 1975 he taught at Mid-State Technical College in Marshfield, WI, where he worked as a business management instructor in WI until his retirement in 1989.

Dale was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church in Marshfield, WI. He also enjoyed gardening, square dancing, and telling his many stories, including the story of winning the showcase at The Price Is Right in 1983. Spending time with friends, playing cards, and watching packer games were his favorite pastimes. One of Dale’s recent highlights was taking the honor flight to Washington DC with his daughter Linda for his 85th birthday.

In death he is preceded by his parents Harold and Irene Edlin, his brother-in-law Jerry Mikelson and his sister Kathleen Mikelson.

Dale leaves his wife Jan; Brothers Howard (Marlene) Edlin and Joe (Jean) Edlin; Brother-in-law Burnell (Jeanne) Anderson; Daughters Linda (Rick) Brandt, Jayne (Dave) Scidmore and Tammy (James) Krier; Grandsons, Jake (Krystal), Nick (Nicole) and Eric Scidmore, Josh (Lauren) Krier and Katelyn (Ripley) Sartain; Great-Grandchildren, Sterling, Adaline and Carson Sartain, Leif and Clove Scidmore.

Private celebrations dedicated to Dale’s life will take place on June 25th at the Harbor Campus in Port Washington, WI and on July 17th at the Home Farm in Stockholm, WI. He is buried in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Marshfield, WI.
