Fundraising to help relief

A spaghetti dinner to raise funds for relief efforts in Ukraine will be held from 5-7 p.m. May 7 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, 165 Central Ave., Silver Creek. The meal includes spaghetti and meatballs, bread, salad and dessert. Advance tickets are $10 and tickets at the door are $12. There will also be raffles, a bake sale and a 50/50 giveaway, with tickets also available the previous weekend: Saturday April 30, after the 4:30 p.m. mass, and Sunday May 1 (after the 8:30 a.m. Mass. Camp registrations are accepted

Girl Scouts of Western New York and Friends of Horton Hill will host a new volunteer-led summer day camp at the Jamestown Service Center on Horton Road July 12-15. Camp Horton Hill is accepting enrollment from girls in grades K-12. Girls can register as Girl Scouts and then attend day camp. The 49-acre wooded site will host a variety of outdoor activities, including traditional campcraft techniques, singing, eco, art and nature badges, and special guest programs. Troops and families are invited to attend the next Do it Day, Saturday, May 14, from 9 a.m. to noon. Projects such as clearing trails, assembling picnic tables and clearing grounds will help prepare camp for summer. On Wednesday, May 18 from 6 to 8 p.m. there will be an open house and information evening for all registered campers and anyone thinking of attending the camp. BROCTON – The Brocton Fire Company will be hosting a drive-in chicken barbecue on Sunday, May 1, from noon while supplies last. Revitalize Dunkirk, Inc is sponsoring a public space cleanup effort in the city Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon, rain or shine. The group will meet in the parking lot behind the SUNY Fredonia Technology Incubator at 214 Central Ave. This event has been approved by the Municipal Council and participants will have to sign a liability waiver from the city of Dunkirk. Welcome comments and a brief safety briefing will be given by Dunkirk PBA Officer Jake Berger. Gloves and garbage bags will be provided by the city.
