We have a full day of stories on Tuesday November 30th on ABC7 introducing some of the groups that are doing great work in the area. Learn more about them below and watch them live on

Junior Achievement from Northern California

Junior Achievement of Northern California is a nonprofit kindergarten for students through 12th grade across the Bay Area. The organization focuses on work readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy.

ABC7 news anchor Jobina Fortson has been volunteering at JA since the beginning of 2020 and is now a board member. She selected JA Norcal as her preferred charity for Giving Tuesday.

Jobina joined JA’s efforts to create a virtual fulcrum in March 2020. Prior to the pandemic, students had the opportunity to visit job boards, interact with corporate sponsors, and receive mentors from companies like Google and the San Francisco Giants. The nonprofit created online internship opportunities and free virtual programming for teachers during the pandemic.

“What really sets us apart is the fact that this is achieved through the support and help of role models who are corporate volunteers,” said Cristene Burr, JA NorCal President and CEO. “You know where these students come from. We bring them together so that they look like the students they are serving, so they can watch and talk about the children’s shared experiences. Students need to have hope and know that they have a prosperous future ahead of them. “

Everything JA offers is free. Find out more about the non-profit organization here.
